Rising energy prices have made biomass heating one of the fastest-growing categories in European home improvement. For distributors, the question is no longer whether to offer pellet stoves, but how to position them next to traditional wood stoves.
The pellet buyer
Pellet stove customers value convenience. A hopper of 13 to 32 kg feeds the fire automatically, a thermostat holds the room temperature, and timers start the stove before the family gets home.
The wood stove buyer
Log stove customers buy an experience: the crackle, the tall flame, independence from electricity. They often have access to firewood and value the ritual of lighting a fire.
Building the range
- Offer 2–3 pellet models covering 80–200 m².
- Pair them with cast iron and steel wood stoves at similar price points.
- Stock spare parts for pellet electronics to win service contracts.
- Train staff to ask about lifestyle, not only room size.
