Lares Inset Wood Burning Stoves
An inset wood burning stove sits inside a wall, chimney breast or fireplace cladding, giving the clean look of a built-in fireplace with the control of a closed stove. Our Lares collection, named after the Roman guardians of the household, offers four inserts for 100 to 200 m², all with a Ø 200 mm flue.
What an inset wood burning stove offers
Because the body is enclosed in masonry or cladding, only the door and glass remain visible, so the fire becomes part of the architecture. Inset models are well suited to convection heating, moving warm air into the room and beyond. Lares inserts use a refractory-lined firebox, primary and secondary air control and an airwash system that keeps the ceramic glass clear. Many customers choose an insert to upgrade an existing open fireplace, turning an open fire into a closed, controllable one.

Choosing a model in the Lares collection
Start with the opening you have to fill: measure its width, height and depth, and note the position of the flue. The LA 3 is the most compact at 695 × 605 × 440 mm and 150 kg, with a heating area of 100–150 m². The LA 2 is taller and slim (690 × 790 × 445 mm, 150 kg, 100–120 m²), a good fit for shallow chimney breasts.
The LA 1 is wide and deep at 875 × 700 × 700 mm and 145 kg, heating 100–120 m². For the largest rooms, the LA 4 (895 × 700 × 550 mm, 240 kg) covers 150–200 m² and is the heaviest model in our range. Clearances, insulation and the chimney connection should always be confirmed by a qualified installer.
Where Lares fits: homes, hotels and projects
Lares inserts are popular with developers and contractors who specify fireplaces for new homes and renovation programmes, and with hotels and restaurants that want a fire integrated into the interior design. For distributors, they complete a range alongside freestanding cast iron and steel stoves. Installation drawings and flue specifications are available for planners, and test reports for relevant standards such as EN 13229 can be provided on request for qualified models. Like all our collections, Lares models can be mixed in one container and customised for private label.
